FITNESS FLEX IS NOW FREE TO MEMBERS (08/01/2012)
As a member of the Lakota Family YMCA, these classes are free. SilverSneaker/Prime members can take the classes as long as they purchase the Group Fitness Pass for each new session.
Attend any of the over 30+ classes listed in the “Group Fitness Schedule". These fitness drop-in classes will meet in seven week sessions. Just show your membership ID card when you enter the classes. Some of the classes include, but are not limited to:
BOOT CAMP:
This class is a comprehensive basic training class, consisting of push-ups, jumping jacks, squats, polymeric, various cardio exercises and weight training
CARDIO EXPRESS:
This class is a quick, 30-minute cardio workout that uses a variety of equipment such as a resistance band, medicine ball, Swiss ball, step board, and free weights.
ZUMBA:
This is the hottest fitness class around and classes are forming all over the globe. Zumba combines forms of Latin dance styles such as Salsa, Meringue, Mambo, Cumbia and Hip Hop into fun and exciting new kind of aerobic workout. All ages and levels of ability are welcome.
PILATES:
This discipline is a series of exercises designed to challenge the core muscles (abdominal and back) while maintaining good alignment and proper breathing. This class focuses on breathing, body symmetry, and core stabilization and tension release.
YOGA:
Unwind, rejuvenate, reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and increase flexibility! Great for the body, mind, and soul! A yoga sticky mat is recommended, but exercise mats will be available for your use. All levels are welcome!
SPINNING:
Group Cycling is for all fitness levels and is designed for beginning riders up to cycle enthusiasts. This class has no impact and allows you to vary your intensity level using your own bicycle’s resistance knob. You will cycle for 45 minutes then cool down and stretch for the remainder of the class. This is a great cardio workout that really challenges your lower body! All cycling participants must bring a bottle of water and a towel to class.
CHILD WATCH:
There is no charge for Child Watch if the child is part of your Family/HH+ Membership.Child Watch is limited to two-hours per day. Silver Sneakers, Prime, Single, Sr. Single, Sr. Couple and Non-Members must pay $1.50 for the first child and $1.00 for each additonal child.
KICKBOXING:
This class provides a total body workout that targets core strength and balance for all ages and abilities. Participants work with a partner, practicing kicks, punches, and self-defense strategies designed to increase cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, range or motion, and agility. The total effect of the class is development of body and mind while having FUN!
Zumba Gold® – Zumba Gold targets the largest growing segment of the population: baby boomers. It takes the Zumba formula and modifies the moves and pacing to suit the needs of the active older participant, as well as those just starting their journey to a fit and healthy lifestyle. What stays the same are all the elements the Zumba Fitness-Party is known for: the zesty Latin music, like salsa, merengue, cumbia and reggaeton; the exhilarating, easy-to-follow moves; and the invigorating, party-like atmosphere. Active older adults want camaraderie, excitement and fitness as a regular part of their weekly schedule. Zumba Gold is the perfect fit. It’s a dance-fitness class that feels friendly, and most of all, fun.
Aqua Zumba® – Known as the Zumba "pool party," Aqua Zumba gives new meaning to the idea of an invigorating workout. Splashing, stretching, twisting, even shouting, laughing, hooting and hollering are often heard during an Aqua Zumba class. Integrating the Zumba formula and philosophy with traditional aqua fitness disciplines, Aqua Zumba blends it all together into a safe, challenging, water-based workout that’s cardio-conditioning, body-toning, and most of all, exhilarating beyond belief.
Power Yoga – The name Power Yoga says it all. It is one of the several types of Yoga that has the same potential of emulating a rigorous full-body workout and promotes mental stability and concentration. This class is more intense than the basic Yoga so be prepared for a great workout!
