We make every effort to keep our facility and programs open during periods of inclement weather while ensuring the safety of our members and staff as they travel to and from the YMCA.

Lakota Local Schools: Weather-Related Delays & Closures

Below is how YMCA programs operate based on Lakota Local School District decisions.

When Schools Are on a Delay

Lakota YMCA remains open with normal facility hours.
Program status depends on the reason for the delay:

Delay Due to Road Conditions
(snow, ice, unsafe travel)

  • Morning Child Watch – Canceled
  • Morning -Y- Classes – Canceled
  • Before School Child Care – Canceled
  • The Crayon Club (full-day child care) – Open
    • Subject to change; participants will be notified
  • No School’s Out Camp at the YMCA

Afternoon programs will resume after 12:00 PM unless otherwise noted.

Delay Due to Cold Weather Only
(no transportation issues)

  • Morning Child Watch – Open
  • Morning -Y- Classes – Open
  • Before School Child Care – Canceled
  • The Crayon Club (full-day child care) – Open
    • Subject to change; participants will be notified.
  • No School’s Out Camp at the YMCA

When Schools Close Early

The following services will be canceled:

  • After School Child Care
  • Evening Programs
  • Evening Child Watch

When Schools Are Closed for the Day

Program status depends on the reason for the closure:

Closure Due to Road Conditions
(snow, ice, unsafe travel)

  • YMCA classes and programs resume at 3:00 PM, unless otherwise updated
  • Morning Child Watch – Canceled
  • Morning -Y- Classes – Canceled
  • Before & After School Child Care – Canceled
  • The Crayon Club – Open
    • Subject to change; participants will be notified.
  • No School’s Out Camp at the YMCA

Closure Due to Cold Weather Only
(no transportation issues)
